Just hours after Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, introduced its latest model, Grok 3, X (formerly Twitter) has sharply increased the price of its Premium+ subscription plan. Users in the U.S. who want access to the latest AI features now have to shell out nearly $50 per month, a significant jump from previous pricing.
Price Hikes Across Multiple Regions
According to X’s updated support page, the Premium+ plan now costs $40 per month in the U.S., with the annual subscription set at $350. Soon after this change, the company rolled out similar price hikes in other countries. In the UK, the cost doubled from £17 to £35 per month, while in France and Germany, subscribers now pay €38 per month, up from €21.
This marks the second price increase in just a few months. Back in December, X raised the Premium+ cost from $16 to $22 per month. With the latest hike, users are now paying more than twice the previous amount for the same subscription.
Not All Grok 3 Features Are Included
Despite the price surge, Premium+ users won’t get full access to Grok 3’s capabilities. xAI has introduced a separate SuperGrok plan, available exclusively through the Grok app, which includes premium features like deep search and advanced reasoning. This means Premium+ subscribers are still missing out on some of Grok 3’s cutting-edge functionalities.
Pricing Inconsistencies Raise Eyebrows
Adding to the confusion, X’s pricing doesn’t appear to be consistent. While the support page states that a monthly Premium+ subscription costs $50, the sign-up page lists it at $48.40 per month, and the final checkout page charges $40 per month. Similarly, the annual plan fluctuates between $395 and $477.95, depending on where users check.
As X continues to push its AI-powered features, users may need to brace themselves for more pricing changes and new subscription tiers in the near future.
